Emission Factor Management and Customisation allows you to control how emission factors are created to specific sources for a particular period. Whether you wish to add values from an emission factor library or customise your own, you can easily manage these factors by following these steps:
Step 1: Access the Source Management section in the admin panel.
Step 2: Click on the "Edit Source" icon (represented by a pencil icon).
Step 3: Go to the third step labeled "Emission Factors."
Step 4: Click the plus (+) button to add a new factor.
Step 5: Choose whether to add a custom emission factor or select from a pre-defined library:
- Custom Emission Factors: Create your own factor and add a unique value.
- Library: Choose a reference from the library for further selection.
Step 6: Choose the appropriate type of greenhouse gas.
Step 7: Define the reporting period by choosing the relevant year.
Step 8: Input Factor:
- If using a custom emission factor, manually enter the desired value.
- If using a library, ensure the relevant value is already selected.
Step 9: Click the checkmark button to save your changes.
With these steps, you can ensure accurate emission data reporting for each source and reporting period, enhancing the quality and reliability of your environmental management data.
Real Case Scenario: Company A’s Emission Factor Management and Customisation
Background: In 2023, Company A configured emission factors from the DEFRA-2023 library for their new source.
Update for 2024: When 2024 arrived, instead of creating a new source, they simply added DEFRA-2024 emission factors to the existing source using the Emission Factor Management and Customisation feature. This ensured that 2023 emissions remained calculated with the 2023 factors while enabling the use of 2024 factors for the new year.
Outcome: This method allowed Company A to efficiently manage emission factors across different reporting periods without compromising data integrity and reduced the need to create new sources annually.
